The Best Online Diet and Weight-Loss Programs, Judged on Whether You'll Still Be Doing Them in June

Almost all regained weight is regained after people quit the plan, not while following it. So we graded on the thing that determines quitting: cost structure, coaching, and how hard it is to cancel.

Why you can trust this: we bought every product on this page ourselves at retail price. Nobody paid for placement and no manufacturer saw this article before publication. If you buy through our links we may earn a commission, which funds the next round of purchases — it never changes the ranking. Read our full policy.

The single biggest predictor of success isn't the diet philosophy — it's whether the coaching and cost structure fit how you actually live, because the majority of weight regained after any programme is regained after people quit, not while they're following it. Most buyers chase the flashiest ad campaign or the promise of GLP-1 access without checking whether their insurance covers it, or whether the 'coaching' is a person or a chatbot. Read the contract length and auto-renewal terms closely: several popular programmes make cancellation deliberately awkward, and that is the single most common complaint across every review platform we checked.

How we picked

We enrolled and paid for each programme, documented the actual billing and cancellation flow, and cross-referenced Trustpilot, Reddit and App Store reviews for recurring complaints. We are not doctors and this is not medical advice — talk to yours before starting any programme, particularly one involving medication.

1 Best Overall
Noom

Noom Weight

The most complete psychology-first programme, for people who want to understand the habit rather than just count the calorie.

Why it wins
  • Daily lessons address the behavioural side that pure calorie-tracking apps ignore entirely
  • 24/7 chatbot support plus optional live coaching fills the gap between check-ins
  • Photo and voice food logging lowers the friction that makes people abandon tracking by week three
The catch
  • The lessons become repetitive and textbook-ish for long-term users — a very consistent complaint
  • Auto-renewal and refund handling generate more negative reviews than the programme content does
Program TypePsychology-based app + optional coaching
Coaching Access24/7 chatbot, live coaching add-on
Medication IncludedSeparate Noom Med programme
Avg Cost$70/mo, or ~$17-30 on annual
Contract LengthAuto-renewing, 4/6/12-month options

Best for: People who want to address why they overeat, not just track what they ate.

$70$70/mo month-to-month; roughly $17-30/mo effective on a 12-month plan

WW

WeightWatchers Core

Decades of published outcomes and the lowest entry price of any structured programme here.

Why it wins
  • The points system bans nothing outright, which is the mechanism behind its long-term adherence numbers
  • A genuinely large community infrastructure, online and in person, backed by decades of data
  • By a wide margin the cheapest structured programme at entry tier
The catch
  • The points system has a real learning curve and new members routinely mis-track for the first weeks
  • In-person meeting locations have thinned in many markets, pushing members to app-only support
Program TypePoints tracking + community
Coaching AccessCommunity by default; live on Core+
Medication IncludedMED+ tier bundles GLP-1 at $74-84/mo
Avg Cost$12/mo Core
Contract LengthMonthly or discounted annual

Best for: Budget-conscious dieters who want a flexible framework and a community rather than an algorithm.

$12From $12/mo; Core+ adds coaching at $22/mo

3 Best for Medical Support
Found

Found Weight Care

Provider-guided GLP-1 access bundled with behavioural coaching, for people who want medical oversight rather than an app.

Why it wins
  • Plans are built around your health history by a licensed provider rather than a generic algorithm
  • Bundled pricing wraps medication, provider access and coaching into one bill instead of three
  • Text-based provider access means questions get answered without booking an appointment
The catch
  • Day-to-day coaching is asynchronous chat rather than live video or phone
  • Medication availability and pricing shift with insurance status and supply, which makes budgeting hard
Program TypeProvider-guided GLP-1 + coaching
Coaching AccessText-based provider, habit coaching
Medication IncludedYes, bundled
Avg Cost$179-249/mo all-in
Contract LengthMonthly or annual

Best for: People who want medically supervised weight loss without separately navigating insurance and a pharmacy.

4 Best If Covered
Teladoc Health

Teladoc Weight Management

If your employer or plan offers it, this is the closest thing to free medically supervised weight loss.

Why it wins
  • A 25-week physician-designed programme with unlimited coaching, at no cost for qualifying members
  • Includes a connected scale that syncs directly to the care team
  • Real physician oversight from an established telehealth provider rather than an app with a chat window
The catch
  • Eligibility is confusing and depends entirely on whether your employer or plan has opted in
  • Self-pay pricing is steep and, frustratingly, not published anywhere public
Program TypePhysician-designed medical management
Coaching AccessUnlimited for qualifying members
Medication IncludedPossible GLP-1 via provider
Avg Cost$0 if covered
Contract Length25-week structured programme

Best for: Anyone whose employer or insurer already includes Teladoc as a covered benefit — check before paying for anything else.

VariesOften $0 out of pocket via employer or health plan; self-pay pricing is not published

5 Best for Women Over 40
Reverse Health

Reverse Health

Built around perimenopause and menopause metabolism rather than a generic calorie deficit.

Why it wins
  • Meal plans and guidance address a life stage most mainstream programmes ignore completely
  • 15-20 minute home workouts fit real schedules without a gym membership
  • A large, active community of members in the same life stage
The catch
  • Intro pricing jumps sharply to the $39.99/mo rate — reviewers routinely call this a bait-and-switch
  • You must complete a signup quiz before seeing real pricing, which makes comparison shopping deliberately hard
Program TypeApp-based nutrition + home workouts
Coaching AccessCommunity, no live 1:1
Medication IncludedNo
Avg Cost$39.99/mo
Contract LengthAuto-renewing monthly

Best for: Women in perimenopause or menopause whose plateau hasn't responded to standard calorie counting.

$39.99$39.99/mo standard after a heavily discounted intro week
